Tri-County Mennonite Homes is proud to partner with Hospice Care Avon Maitland in hiring for a Volunteer Coordinator.
Hospice Palliative Care is a philosophy of care, which focuses on comfort, quality of life and supporting the precious moments families share as their loved one lives the final chapter of his/her life. Hospice care is not as much about dying as it is about living – living each day and each moment to the fullest. We will be here to help our residents and their family members live each day with dignity, by providing compassionate, end-of-life care in a home-like setting.
Hospice Care Avon Maitland (HCAM) will have two residential hospices – the Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice located in Stratford, which will include ten suites (opening with six), and the Huron Residential Hospice in Clinton, which will have four suites. The Stratford-based hospice is expected to open before the end of 2018, while Clinton’s hospice plans to open at the end of March 2018. Additional spaces in the hospices will include family gathering and meal spaces, room for family members to stay overnight if they wish, a bereavement support area, resource library and meeting rooms. We will also grow new outreach programs and play a role in developing a centre of excellence on Hospice Palliative Care for healthcare providers and the families of Perth County and Huron County.
If you enjoy building an organization, creating an effective work environment and making an impact on people’s lives – and are interested in palliative and end-of-life care – this would be a wonderful opportunity for you!
The Volunteer Coordinator will develop, provide and coordinate Visiting Hospice Volunteer Program services in Stratford and South Perth County and residential hospice volunteer services in the Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice (SPRH). The Volunteer Coordinator will mobilize and manage volunteers to enhance the vision and mission of Hospice Care Avon Maitland (HCAM) by developing community partnerships to gain synergies and collaboration opportunities, to introduce and ensure effective volunteer management practices and standards, within scope and according to standards of practices as outlined in the Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement (CCVI) and Hospice Palliative Care Ontario (HPCO).
The Volunteer Coordinator is a permanent, full-time position and will be responsible to mobilize and manage approximately 200 volunteers in the Stratford Perth Rotary Hospice located in Stratford ON as well as the Visiting Hospice Volunteer Program in the Stratford and South Perth County areas. The successful candidate must be able to travel to locations, and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
